Our Interview from THINK WIOT

We are pleased to announce the publication of our first interview on Think WIOT, one of the leading international platforms dedicated to RFID, NFC, BLE and IoT technologies. In the interview, our CEO discusses the main challenges involved in designing reliable RFID systems for metal surfaces, sharing the experience we have gained in developing solutions for industrial applications.

RFID identification on metal is one of the most challenging applications of RFID technology. The performance of a tag depends not only on its technical characteristics, but also on the type of metal surface, the size of the asset, the operating environment and the installation method. For this reason, selecting the most suitable solution requires a careful analysis of the application, followed by validation under real operating conditions.

Throughout the interview, we explore several key design topics, including:

  • the impact of metal surfaces on RF performance;
  • the trade-offs between tag size, read range and mechanical robustness;
  • the differences between on-metal RFID labels and hard tags;
  • selecting the most suitable RFID chip and memory configuration for each application;
  • the importance of preliminary testing directly on the real asset.

One of the key messages of the interview is that there is no universally “best” RFID tag—only the tag that best fits a specific application. This engineering-driven approach has always guided us in developing RFID solutions for industrial environments.
