Global Tag’s team have considered as a primary the introduction in its product range of Metally, a RFID label that works in UHF frequency, also if applied on metal surfaces.

The new Global Tag’s UHF on-metal label “Metally” has the advantages of being incredibly competitive, as price and performances. It guarantees an easy, but strong application, thanks to the 3M adhesive layer placed on the backside of the tag;  The IP67 class protection ensure the resistance to hard environmental conditions.

The main added value that this tag bring to  automatic identification sector (in production, maintenance and industrial logistic) is represented by the possibility  to print information on the surface of the label, in order to simplify more and more the traceability.

Thanks to the size 97,5x27mm it’s possible to reach reading distance up to 5 meters, ensuring the automatic identification also inside a loading bay.

Besides, the Global Tag effort has been the reduction of the cost of the single label, that allows a complete usability, especially in the industrial field, where often the need of transponders  is represented by large quantities of units.

The applications in which Metally is recommended, also because of the success obtained in  the first implementations,  are the tracking and  the logistic management of metal bins in the industrial field, the machinery monitoring for the maintenance purpose, the identification of containers, cisterns and dumpsters for waste management, and also for a fast inventory of the assets. A special mention goes to the application of Metally on the  fire extinguishers for their periodic maintenance as alternative of On-Metal NFC labels.

It is a turning point  that seems a real revolution what happened 16^th of June 2016 in Washington,  where the new release of Bluetooth standard  has been announced.

After six years since last update, precisely, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has officially presented the features of Bluetooth 5.0, which function will be, as stated by the executive director Mark Powell, to upset the people approach to IoT (Internet of Things).

This  prediction is based on the increase  of the performance  that will characterize the new standard BT 5.0:  speed will reach 4mbps (twice as Bluetooth 4.0), communication distance that will be four times longer, up to 200 meters and data broadcasting, will increase of 800%, that means give the option to create longer “packet advertising”. These improvement will not imply an increase of battery consumption, which will be a life as longer as BT 4.0 one.

The standard Bluetooth 5.0 will be available on the market since the begin of 2017; it will take so long time because it seems that, to use a Bluetooth 5.0 device, it’s needed that both communicating devices must be Bluetooth 5.0 compliant: in the case in wich there is a communication between 2 devices , the first BT 4.2 compliant and the second BT 5.0 compliant, the features of the operating communication will be those of 4.2 Bluetooth Standard .

The applications that will enjoy this change, in addition to the usual application sectors (marketing and home automation), particularly will be those of the industrial sector, that could take advantages from the incredible improvement of the performance.

A new RFID and NFC tag has been added to Global Tag’s product line, designed in order to find a practical and cheap solution to the need of tracking optical fibers, Ethernet and electrical cables and, more generally, cylindrical objects that have until 3cm diameter.

Fibery is a RFID/NFC tag covered by a polypropylene layer, that has got inside itself a foam layer that allows to  protect the chip and the antenna against knocks; the back of the tag is characterized by a 3M strong adhesive  that allows to wrap the tag around the cable and seal it up tightly for a perfect application.

Fibery can be customized with logos, Barcode, QRcode, Serial Number or UID printing.
Its ductility, its easy application and its low cost make the Fibery more attractive than a common RFID cable tie, that’s more cumbersome, more expensive and less useful because of its  printing difficulty.

Another available option for this product is the encoding/writing of the memory, that can be imprinted with data provided by customer on data base, as well as progressive serial numbers can be associated to the different tags.
